R2 million stolen bus sold for R30 000
A tip-off by an informant led to an illegal chop shop in Vosman, eMalahleni, and the recovery of a bus stolen in Jane Furse two days earlier. Mahlangu Bus Services in Eerstegeluk near Steelpoort reported a 65-seater Hino bus stolen last Thursday at around 03:00
It is valued at R2 million. Following a lead, Black Bull Tactical Response of Lydenburg recovered the
bus in Vosman on Saturday. Black Bull and the Vosman SAPS arrived at the scene around 18:00.
They arrested suspects who had allegedly bought the Hino bus for R30 000 from the culprits.
The police managed to arrest four suspects and the owner of the chop shop. With their arrival, the suspects were still busy spraying the stolen bus. The masterminds behind the theft are still at large and the case is still under investigation. The suspects appeared in the eMalahleni Magistrate’s Court on
Monday on charges of possession and concealment of stolen property.
