Other Burgersfort players who participated in the games, but unfortunately did not make it to the top 10, were Emmanuel Mathebula and Keletso Phaswane. The National Blackball Championships will be from July 15 to 23 at Billiards Café in Johannesburg.
Speaking on behalf of Burgersfort Pool Players Association, Paul “Master” Modibe, said they are proud of Phala’s achievements.
“With Phala’s talents, we are optimistic that he will represent the province excellently and bring the silverware home. If he continues with his good performances, he will soon represent the country internationally.”
In 2020, Phala and Phaswane qualified for the same competition, but the event was cancelled due to Covid-19.
“I was happy when the opportunity came again for me to qualify to represent my province. Once more, I took it with both hands. I will go there, do my best and fly the local flag high,” Phala told Steelburger/Lydenburg News.
