Join Skukuza Golf Tour with Gophers
Playing golf for charity has always been the goal of the Gophers Charity Golf League. The chairperson of the league, Bruce James, said the league is achieving new heights despite Covid-19 restrictions. It held two successful golf days recently, and another is planned for Sunday August 1.
The IPS competition that was held at the Lydenburg Golf Club on June 27 was sponsored by Golf on the Go. The winners were Lembe Smit (first), Mohammed Velly (second), Deon Augustyn (third) and the nearest-to-the-pin winners were Arno Briel and Christo de Beer.
On May 30 a league game was also held at the Akabeko Boutique Hotel. It was sponsored by Diggers Grill Lydenburg. The winners were Obed Mashego and Timothy Marobane, second were Bruce James and Johan Oberholzer, third Pieter and Arno Briel, and the nearest-to-the-pin winners were Deon Augustyn and André Basson.
The next big game will take place on Sunday August 1 at the Lydenburg Golf Club. Players are asked to pre-book their tee-off times by contacting Danie on 071 681 7826 by Friday July 30.
Prize winners will be contacted by Wednesday August 4 to collect their prizes from the Pro Shop at the Lydenburg Golf Club. The committee apologises for any inconvenience due to the above and asked players to adhere to the Covid rules in place. Planning for the Skukuza Golf Tour from October 1 to 3 is well underway, and details may be obtained from James on
