Mamatho fail to gain promotion at last hurdle
The two teams that gained promotion to the Limpopo ABC Motsepe League were Emmmanuel FC, as they topped the event with 12 points and Vondwe Bullets are the runners-up with nine points. Mamatho only managed to obtain four.
Moroke’s Mamatho United failed in their quest to qualify for the ABC Motsepe League. The Limpopo SAB League provincial promotional play-offs took place at Thohoyandou Stadium this past weekend.
As usual, five teams from the five regional associations battled for promotion in the two-day event. Teams that represented their respective regions in the tournament were Mamatho United (Sekhukhune), Vondwe Bullets (Vhembe), Emmanuel FC (Mopani), Vuka Hungry Tigers (Capricorn) and Greenhouse FC (Waterberg).
The Moroke team came third in the five-team league. Mamatho’s first match, which was played on Saturday, saw the team share the spoils with Green House FC. The game ended 2-2.
In their second match they lost 2-3 to Vondwe Bullets. The third game, played on Sunday, brought hope for the local team as they walloped Hungry Tigers 7-2. The fourth match put a spanner in the works for Mamatho, the team conceded six goals as they were thrashed 6-0 by Emmanuel FC.

Mamatho’s Eliya Mohlala thanked the supporters and the people of Sekhukhune for cheering for the team.
“We will have to regroup and form a formidable team to compete anywhere in the province. We will continue to try our best to gain a promotion in the coming season.”
Ngwaabe City Motors of Steelpoort are the only team from Tubatse competing in the ABC Motsepe League.
