Young girl found dead in neighbour’s home
"One of the neighbours allegedly refused to grant anyone access to his house, but entry was forcefully made. The child was then found dead in the house with no visible injuries. The suspect was immediately arrested," revealed Limpopo SAPS spokesman, Brig Motlafelo Mojapelo.
JANE FURSE – The six-year-old girl who had been missing was found dead in a neighbour’s house in Phokoane on Monday.
The provincial commissioner of SAPS in Limpopo, Lt Gen Thembi Hadebe, has hailed the arrest of a 35-year-old suspect.
The child, identified as Bokamoso Tjabadi, was reported missing on August 29 at about 20:00.
“The SAPS immediately commenced with a search operation, assisted by community members. The operation was conducted throughout the night and covered the entire village, without any success.
“On Monday August 30 at about 07:30, a decision was taken to search each and every house, starting with the neighbours’ houses.
“One of the neighbours allegedly refused to grant anyone access to his house, but entry was forcefully made. The child was then found dead in the house with no visible injuries. The suspect was immediately arrested,” revealed Limpopo SAPS spokesman, Brig Motlafelo Mojapelo.
Hadebe said, “As members of the SAPS we are more than determined to double our efforts to completely eradicate crimes perpetrated against women and children”.
The SAPS said a post mortem will be conducted to determine how the child died.
“The motive for this incident is unknown at this stage, but the possibility of attempting to cover up another crime such as rape cannot be ruled out.”
The suspect is expected to appear in the Nebo Magistrate’s Court soon. Police investigations are continuing.
