Teenager and friends care for needy families

Nadia Milazi, a finalist in Miss Teen Universe SA, celebrated Heritage Day on Friday September 24 by distributing food parcels to needy families.

She invited her friends to join her in her campaign and they were beautifully dressed in their traditional attire.

“As young people, we need to learn more about our culture and traditions by spending more time with our elders, not only on Heritage Day, but whenever we find time to visit our grandparents. Heritage should not only be about us dressing up during the celebration but it should be about us learning what it means when old people speak of ‘ubuntu’,” said Milazi.

Johannes Magagula, one of the beneficiaries, said, “We are glad to see young people who think of other people and decided to share what they have with us”.

“We are so thankful and we pray the Lord bless this beautiful young girl. We only get social grants at the end of the month and without these parcels I wouldn’t have been able to cook anything for my grandchildren today,” said Elsie Ngele.

John Nyundum, CEO of Nsizwa Nyundu Foundation, thanked Pick n Pay for providing the food parcels. “We are inviting other local businesses to keep supporting community initiatives as part of their corporate social investment (CSI) programmes to build the communities they doing business under their areas.

This is the only way we can build our country and build lasting relations,” said Nyundu. Nadia also visited Lydenburg Museum to learn more about the history of the town and advised other young people to visit the museum.

Nadia is a finalist for the Miss Teen Universe South Africa 2022.
