Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine achieved a prodigious achievement by reaching an astounding nine million fatality-free shifts.
To celebrate this unsurpassed accomplishment, the mine held a prestigious gala event at @Boshoek’s enchanting venue nestled between breathtaking mountains and natural forestry.
The event’s aim was to thank the dedicated employees for their relentless work on safety at the mine. The mine made it clear that its goal is to be wired for greatness and to light the way to ensure the ultimate safety of all workers.
The last fatality this mine had on account of a fall of ground, was in 2009. Since then, Dwarsrivier has made it its mission to ensure that all safety standards at the workplace are prioritised and placed above all else.

Delegates who attended the auspicious occasion included the Exco of Assore which were the Chief Executive Officer, Charles Walters, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Tiaan van Aswegen and the Executive SA Operations, Henk Gouws.
These delegates reiterated the importance of achieving such an achievement and delivered insightful speeches towards the continuous improvement of safety.
Several entertainment options ensured that there was no shortage of celebrations. The MC for the night was Alfred Adriaan, a popular South African stand-up comedian, TV personality and vlogger.

The Muses, a string quartet of talented violin and cello players, blend classical finesse with modern energy. Armed with Yamaha electric violins, viola and cello, the Muses reinvent classical music with a fresh, high-energy twist.
From Top 40 hits to timeless classics and vibrant African favourites, they deliver a show packed with sultry moves, infectious energy and pure entertainment.
Another top-notch performance was Pricilla Metsi, who performed exceptional song covers, including the long-time hit “The Best” by Tina Turner.

Conrad Koch delivered a hilarious act with his puppet, Conrad Missing, ensuring roars of laughter and refreshing entertainment.
Dwarsrivier management presented an inspirational speech about the crucial importance of safety on any mine.
Your behaviour protects you. No task is so important that it can’t be done safely. I would like to thank every employee for keeping the mine safe.”
After the celebrations, awards were handed over to various departments within the mine. These included the mining of South shaft, Mining Logistics, North shaft mining, the North and South shafts, Engineering division, Project Overview, Plant and Plant Engineering. Human Resources, Human Resource Development, Ministry of Natural Resources, Finance and Protection services.
It is by no means a coincidence that this mine achieved such a remarkable milestone. Dwarsrivier’s vision has always been to be a leading ore producer. To achieve that, the mine strives to provide a healthy, safe work environment with employees as its key assets.
This is reflected in the mine’s core and fundamental values of unconditional care, teamwork, honesty and integrity, a positive attitude and above all, the focus on safeguarding the health and well-being of all of its mine workers by implementing various and effective safety measures and practices.
