CMDA based in White River calls for community support
The Casterbridge Music Development Academy has announced a strategic shift aimed at improved sustainability and community participation; improving access to music education.
The Casterbridge Music Development Academy (CMDA), a registered Non-Profit Organisation, is dedicated to providing high-quality music education to local youth.
With the latest announcement, it has embarked on a strategic shift in its operational model.
This is aimed at strengthening long-term sustainability and expanding community participation.
According to the CMDA’s operational manager, Thapelo Lekoane, the Academy’s strategic pivot marks a new chapter, reaffirming its commitment to accessible music education, while simultaneously encouraging the public to become active partners in potential rather than mere donors.

According to Lekoane, the CMDA will continue to focus on ensuring academic excellence and financial stability, but now through community-driven support; making music education accessible to children regardless of their financial background.

“As part of this transition, the Academy has launched a community-wide Micro-Philanthropy Initiative encouraging individuals, professionals and music enthusiasts to contribute by way of recurring monthly donations via platforms such as BackaBuddy and GoFundMe,” she said. Consistent funding, even as little as R100 per month would ensure lessons, mentorship programmes and youth development initiatives, could be sustained.
“At the CMDA, we don’t just see donors; we see partners and investors in the dreams of our students. A recurring gift of R100 may seem small, but collectively, it changes lives. We are also inviting local businesses to partner with the Academy so we can continue to teach music to kids.” She emphasised that while large sponsorships remain important, its future sustainability depends on collective community participation.
