The Rhinos’ Last Shot – a look at the bleak future of the rhino
Most efforts to save rhinos from extinction have been focused on protection and taking out the poaching foot soldiers, the people responsible for shooting rhinos and hacking off their horns. The rhinos' last shot in race against extinction could demand reduction campaigns and stricter laws.
Recently 12 international students visited South Africa on invitation from Youth for Africa Wildlife and its founder Dex Kotze. Although they came from Palestine, Saudi Arabia, USA, South Africa, Canada, Colombia and Venezuela it was amazing to see how well the different nationalities got along during the project. They were divided into three groups for research purposes on rhinos, elephants and lions. The students in the rhino group produced the first short documentary.
