Father killed in N4 Pretoria accident en route to hospital, young children injured

It is believed a family were on their way to a nearby hospital for medical attention after a woman was injured at home.

A man died while three others sustained moderate injuries in a motor vehicle accident in Silverton, Pretoria, on Saturday night.

Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the collision on the N4, near the Simon Vermooten off-ramp, just after 23:00.

According to Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen, the vehicle, which was transporting a family, was found to have rolled over several times.

It is suspected that the occupants were ejected from the vehicle when it overturned.

According to Van Reenen, the family had been on their way to a nearby hospital for medical attention after a female travelling in the family vehicle had fallen and was left injured at her home.

“A female aged approximately 30 and two children aged 12 and five, were found to have sustained moderate injuries and were treated and stabilised on scene.”

He said the family was taken to a nearby hospital for further care.

Van Reenen said the man, believed to be in his thirties, was found with fatal injuries and declared dead on the arrival of paramedics.

The cause of the accident is not known and is subject to law enforcement investigations.
