VIDEO: Feed a Child’s soup outreach

On an icy cold Tuesday morning the warm pot of soup which Feed A Child brought to the Evergreen informal settlement satisfied all like the widow's oil in the Bible.

The journalist was invited to go with the team from Feed A Child and Blue Ribbon.

The minute I saw all the children and their parents running up to the vehicle, my heart stopped a beat and in my thoughts I started praying: “please Lord, be merciful and make the soup last just like the widow’s oil in the Bible. Please let there be enough!!”

The row grew and grew, and Judy van Deventer and her team from Feed A Child just gave and gave. First the children and then they invited the parents. Everybody got a cup of soup and some of them even came for second servings!

“How is it possible?” I thought for a second and then the words of 2 Kings 4 flushed through my mind where the widow’s little jar of oil refused to stop pouring. Judy saw the doubt in my mind earlier and after the feeding, she just smiled and said: “we see miracles every day!”
