VIDEO: Two amputees on a mission

On 26 June, Paul Steyn and Mike Minnie will embark on an epic journey, walking about 3000 km from Pretoria, via Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern and Western Cape. They will be accompanied by Lourens Delport, who will drive the backup vehicle and coordinate the walk.

Paul and Mike are amputees, Paul below the knee and Mike above the knee. On route they will visit 64 towns and cities, where they will speak at schools, churches, community organisations and at various fundraisers.

On their journey they will also visit eMalahleni (2 July), Middelburg (3 July), Belfast (5 July), Machadodorp (6 July), Waterval Boven (10 July) and Ngodwana (12 July).

The purpose of the walk is to raise funds and create awareness about the plight of amputees in South Africa.

It also aims to demonstrate the mobility a prosthetic leg provides to an amputee and to other amputees, as well as the general public.
