UPDATE: Five officers arrested during ‘Operation Take-Down’
The Hawks Serious Corruption Investigation Unit has arrested five officers during their operation that took place today.
Two traffic officers and one police officer from Middelburg have been arrested on charges of corruption and are currently being questioned at the Middelburg Police Station.
The crackdown, which has been named operation take down, took off this morning in Nelspruit, where the Hawks and DPCI targeted areas in the Mpumalanga region.

Captain Dineo Sekgotodi, the media spokesperson behind the operation, has informed that one police officer and two traffic officers were allegedly arrested this morning in Komatipoort.
Lucky Mabena, Khethiwe Mkhabela and David Mahlare Ntuli have appeared in the Komatipoort Magistrate’s Court, facing charges of corruption and fraud for soliciting bribes from motorists along the N4, targeting foreign nationals in particular.
The names of the other suspects cannot be released until they have appeared in court.
