SAPS divers retrieve body of seven-year-old boy

The body of a boy, believed to be seven years old, was discovered in Extension 24 on Sunday.

The body was retrieved from a dam by SAPS divers at about 11:00.

The boy was only wearing shorts at the time of the discovery, and it is not clear how he ended up in the water.
His grandmother was on the scene when his body was retrieved.

His body was transported to the Middelburg Forensic Pathology department, where a post-mortem will be conducted.

• Less than a month ago, the SAPS Mounted and Rescue Units found the body of a four-year-old boy.

Mpendulo Mqcukani’s decomposed body was found on a farm near the Hendrina road after a month of frantic searching.
