WATCH: Missing 80-year-old last seen at filling station

The family of missing pensioner, Jeff Clapperton, are growing more frantic as they enter the fourth day since his disappearance.

According to CCTV footage obtained, Jeff (80), stopped at the Sasol Garage on the corner of Swartbos- and Gordon Street in eMalahleni on Sunday morning at 08:49 to draw cash from the ATM inside the convenience store before his disappearance.

Jeff left his home on the plots situated eight kilometres outside eMalahleni on the R555 (old Witbank road) to run errands at the Supar Spar. Crescent Centre at 08:00 Sunday morning. He was travelling in his white Atos Prime, registration: FJX072MP.

His daughter, Jayne Lombaard, told the Middelburg Observer that his stop at the Sasol Garage was out of character for him, as he routinely drew money at the Standard Bank ATM around the corner of the Spar he would have gone to.

The footage, however, shows that it was clearly Jeff who drew the cash, and it appears that he left the filling station alone and unharmed before disappearing without a trace.
Jeff turned left in the direction of town.

Jayne said that the Witbank SAPS will be obtaining footage from cameras in the street he turned into to try and track his movements.

Jeff Clapperton (80) disappeared on Sunday while running errands.

He was wearing black clothing and a blue cap.

He has faded tattoo markings om both arms, has grey hair and a moustache, and blue eyes.

He is of slight build with a height of 1,6 metres and weighs 55 kg.

Should anyone have any information that could assist in his search, they can contact the Witbank Police at 013 655 5051/2 or investigating officer, Sgt Mabena on 072 327 3129.
