Now’s your chance – motorcycle thieves arrested, CPF urges victims to come forward

Victims of a prevailing motorcycle theft syndicate are urged to come forward to ensure that the criminals remain behind bars.

It was reliably learned that a white Toyota Quantum and silver VW Polo, allegedly involved in the theft of motorcycles were flagged down while entering Alberton, leading to a chase and the subsequent arrest of four Mozambican nationals.

A variety of house breaking tools were also found in their possession.

Messages being circulated on WhatsApp urged residents who have fallen victim to the suspected syndicate to come forward with their case information, to ensure that a stronger case can be built against the arrested suspects.

While the Chairperson of the Brackendowns CPF, Geoff Steyn, declined to give any comment on the arrest, he however did confirm that a syndicate targeting motorcycles has been active in residential areas of Gauteng and Mpumalanga, believing that Middelburg cases could be tied to them.

Steyn therefore said that the CPF is working to gather information on as many theft cases connected to the syndicate, to ensure that a strong case can be built against them.

Over the course of several years, Middelburg has been struck on multiple occasions by a suspected syndicate, with footage from several incidents linking a white Toyota Quantum to the theft of motorcycles.

Middelburg residents who have opened cases are urged to forward their information to the Brackenhurst CPF Chairperson on 082 859 7540.

The following information should be included in the report: name and surname, address, contact number, details of stolen motorcycle, photo of stolen motorcycle, footage of incident if available, SAPS station where case was opened, case number and date, Station or CNT number, investigating officer’s name.
