Wallet that was falsely claimed returned to original owner after two months of agonising
The bizarre story of how Jackson Morudi recovered his lost wallet, despite someone else claiming it as their own.

At the beginning of the year, Jackson Morudi dropped his wallet at the Easy Flow Garage on Watt Street, what ensued after this inciting moment gave Jackson very little hope of ever recovering his billfold, but somehow, some way, it has made its way back to the rightful owner.
The fateful incident, which took place on January 9, had CCTV footage showing a man climbing down from the back of a bakkie to pick up the wallet in question.

Jackson found the man seen in the video and confronted him, but alas, it was too late, as another man had already falsely claimed the brown leather wallet as their own.
The man from the back of the bakkie said that shortly after picking up the pocketbook, he paid a taxi fare and upon arrival at his destination, he was stopped by an individual driving a grey Hyundai i10.
This person of interest said that he witnessed the entire ordeal, from the moment the man hopped out of the bakkie. He then stated that the wallet was his own.

The man who got out of the bakkie relented and handed the wallet over, and later told Jackson he was on his way to the police station to report it.
Jackson had no idea who this mysterious Hyundai driver was and still has no idea to this day.
At the time, Jackson told the Middelburg Observer that he didn’t care about reclaiming the money, or the wallet itself, pleadingly saying that all he wants is his ID card and driver’s licence back, to spare him the misery of renewing them.
Jackson, feeling defeated at the experience, had little faith that he would get back his valuables. That was until last Friday evening.
Receiving a phone call from an unknown number at roughly 18:45, a stranger said that Jackson’s wallet was in his hands.
Able to get in touch with him by an induction card identifying the name of the company he works for, the man said that his gardener gave it to him after he found it lying on the grass.
This occurred in Industria, not far from where Jackson worked.
It is suspected that the wallet was thrown over the fence, as to why or when, or by whom, there is no definitive answer, but fortunately for Jackson, everything apart from his cash was accounted for.
He told the Observer, “Everything was there, except the money, and you know money has no branded owner.”
Jackson further stated that he appreciates the newspaper and the public’s assistance in his wallet’s recovery, “Where I stand, I felt your contribution.”
• As for the identity of the man in the grey Hyundai, that, we may never know.
