Relocation of patients to King Nyabela Hospital has been postponed

The plans to move patients to King Nyabela Hospital have been delayed.

Plans to start the process of relocating patients from the old Middelburg hospital have been postponed due to some minor logistical issues, this is according to a comment received from Christopher Nobela, media spokesperson for the Department of Health in Mpumalanga.

Maake Modise, CEO of the Middelburg Provincial Hospital, made the announcement a few days ago, stating that a new dawn was upon the community as the process of moving patients from the old hospital to the new King Nyabela Hospital was scheduled to commence.

The relocation was supposed to commence on July 28 and was expected to take place until August 15.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa visited the new hospital while it was still under construction early last year, where he remarked on the structure as a state-of-the-art design.

The relocation announcement came after the construction and grand opening of the new hospital were halted a few times in the past.

Construction of the new King Nyabela Hospital began in 2019, undertaken by Enza Construction.
