Little champions in Circuit 2

Nearly 300 Grade R learners from 10 schools across the Steve Tshwete Circuit 2 area took to the track and field during a vibrant circuit athletics day hosted by Laerskool Kragveld on 20 February.

The event brought together schools from across the Middelburg area for a morning praising participation, teamwork and early development through sport.

The event formed part of the Steve Tshwete Circuit 2 programme, which plays a key role in coordinating educational and extracurricular activities for schools in the local community.

Participating schools included Laerskool Kragveld, Eastdene Combined School, Middelburg Combined School, Rietkuil Primary School, Mphephete Primary School, Maziya Primary School, Hendrina Primary School, Extension 24 Primary School, Tsiki Naledi Primary School and Khulnolwasi Primary School.

According to organisers, the athletics day was about far more than competition.

The circuit’s guiding principle, “Every Child Matters,” was clear throughout the morning as the young learners took part in different events, with excitement.

For their efforts and participation, every Grade R athlete received a medal, reinforcing the message that each learner’s participation and confidence is valued.

Educators and circuit officials also attended the event to support the young athletes.

The morning was widely regarded as a success, highlighting the strong support among schools in the circuit and a strong sense of unity.

Every participant was truly recognised as a winner on the day.
