Two days without water and still no help

Shocking actions of municipal workers make residents see red

A huge hole in your driveway.
Two days without water.
Municipal workers who don’t want to help.
Municipal officials who don’t care about councillors’ complaints.
And no help in sight.

Water was simply turned off

Municipal workers simply turned off the water in Hertzog Street last night and went home.
As of 13:00 this afternoon, they still hadn’t restored Dennesig’s water supply.
A resident on Hertzog Street can’t get out of his yard due to a huge hole in his driveway.
Dennesig councillor Johann Dyason said the team didn’t give priority to Dennesig but first repaired several other water pipes today.

No accountability

As of this afternoon, they were still busy on Van der Merwe Street before they hopefully help Dennesig.
Ironically, a message was sent to residents early this morning that the water would be back on within four hours.
Two days and seven hours later, the water supply has still not been restored.
Dyason said the workers do whatever they want, and there is no accountability.
Last week, he waited two hours for a municipal team, while water flowed down Loerie and Oribi streets like a river.

You still have to pay

“You don’t get the service you deserve,” said Dyason.
He could also have added, ‘but you still have to pay for the service you don’t get’.
As soon as action is taken against the workers, they threaten to strike, or, as happened with the electrical department, they strike until the paid-off offender is re-employed.

Untouchable

This is all a result of the municipal strike a few years ago, which made workers arrogant.
They are now untouchable and do whatever they want, as the Hertzog Street water problems show.
How much longer do residents have to endure this action?
