Man detained for drug dealing granted bail

A man arrested for dealing in drugs was granted R3 000 bail by the Motetema Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Thursday).

The police discovered drugs estimated at a street value of R250 000 in a Toyota bakkie they stopped in Manapyane Village in the Motetema policing area on Wednesday afternoon.

A 33-year-old suspect was arrested for dealing heroine and crystal meth, and the police also found a substantial amount of cash in the bakkie.

Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, Limpopo Provincial Police spokesperson, said the breakthrough resulted from the police tracing wanted suspects in the area.

Ledwaba indicated that during the process, the police received information about a white Toyota bakkie peddling drugs in the area.

He said the police located the bakkie along the main road, with the driver and a female passenger inside.

“They were immediately arrested and the bakkie was seized,” informed Ledwaba.

The driver, Moshitwa Mohlala, was granted R3 000 bail by the Motetema Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Thursday) and will reappear in court on July 23.

The court released the 29-year-old passenger as she was allegedly not involved in the crime.
