Electricity infrastructure project well underway

Installation work at the Mamatjekele Substation has been completed.

Significant progress has been made on the installation of a feeder bay at the Mamatjekele Substation in Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality.

Thomas Mashabela, municipal spokesperson, said reports indicate that the installation work has been completed.

Head of Infrastructure Development Makanyoge Morwamakoti led local traditional leadership, municipal members, and Ga-Moloi Extension’s community members during an oversight visit to the substation on Wednesday.

Mashabela said the substation only awaits electrical testing, “After Eskom’s completion of the final testing of the electricity infrastructure, the municipality’s contractor will be informed to connect the power line to the feeder bay.”

The local traditional leadership and community members expressed delight over the work carried out on the substation.

“To ensure openness, accountability, and interaction with the affected community, the municipality will continue to provide feedback on the project,” Mashabela stated.
