Police seize illegal firearms and drugs in Limpopo

Shanela Operations conducted across the Limpopo Province resulted in the recovery of unlawful firearms and ammunition.

The Shanela Operations were held between September 29 and October 5, resulting in the arrest of 374 suspects for various offences during raids that involved roadblocks, compliance checks at liquor outlets, and informal businesses.

Limpopo provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the crimes ranged from assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, illegally dealing in liquor and drugs, murder, rape, possession of counterfeit cigarettes, malicious damage to property, illicit mining, and the contravention of the Immigration Act.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, lauded the members and other stakeholders for their efforts in fighting crime.
