Empowered women, healthier workplaces: Sekhukhune leads the way
Women from Sekhukhune District Municipality gathered in Groblersdal for an event that provided them with a platform to share issues affecting them mentally in the workplace.
The campaign was held at the Agricultural Hall in Groblersdal yesterday (October 14) and was held under the theme: Sekhukhune District’s Women Employees Rise: Health and Empowerment Matters.
Sekhukhune District Municipality’s spokesperson Lemson Moropjane said the municipality organised the dialogue to help address women’s challenges in line with Mental Health Awareness Month and Breast Cancer Awareness Month campaigns in October.

Executive Mayor Minah Bahula led the engagement and urged women to unite and support one another.
Bahula said the event serves as a safe and supportive platform for the women in the district to engage in an open dialogue on health, well-being, and empowerment.
“It forms part of our district’s ongoing commitment to creating inclusive, supportive, health-conscious work environments for all our employees. We are contemplating hosting it annually to support women,” Bahula expressed.
Limpopo Health MEC Dieketseng Mashego also attended the gathering and stressed the importance of mental health awareness and early detection of breast cancer as vital aspects of women’s health.
She indicated that no woman should ever suffer in silence and be made to choose between survival and dignity.
“Limpopo remains guided by the principle of Batho Pele, putting people first, and that means putting women’s well-being at the centre of our programmes and policies,” Mashego reaffirmed.
Several MMCs, representatives from Elias Motsoaledi, Ephraim Mogale, and Makhuduthamaga local municipalities, SAPS Sekhukhune District Commissioner Major General Junior Lehabe-Metsi, and representatives from Groblersdal Hospital attended the event.
