Mother sought after foetus found

A unknown man recovers a foetus from an irrigation canal on a farm outside Marble Hall.

Workers at Tebogo Farming and Investments outside Marble Hall remain in shock following the discovery of a foetus in an irrigation canal at one of the plots.

In a video circulating on social media platforms, farming community members can be seen gathered alongside the canal.

A local man dives into the water, and with the guidance of farm workers, coupled with his aquatic skills, he finally recovered the foetus from the water.

Limpopo Provincial Police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba confirmed that the incident occurred on October 21 at about 14:00.

Mashaba said the mother is unknown at this stage, but is believed to be from the Leeuwfontein area. He stated that investigations are ongoing.

He could not tell if the foetus was a boy or a girl, indicating that the ongoing investigation will determine the sex.

Mashaba further confirmed that there were no signs of life when it was found. The incident has sparked outrage among members of the community, who called for the perpetrator to meet the full might of the law when found.
