Police seek leads after major livestock theft

Police in Motetema are looking for suspects after 16 goats and 13 sheep were stolen in Tafelkop.

SAPS Motetema have launched a manhunt for suspects following stock theft in Matshelapata Village, Tafelkop, on Monday.

According to the police, 16 goats and 13 sheep were stolen from a kraal at about 22:00.

Limpopo Provincial Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the owner of the livestock found the kraal’s gate open the following morning after he had locked it the previous evening.

The owner also discovered that the padlock used on the kraal’s gate was damaged. “The elderly man attempted to search for his livestock in the area but was unsuccessful. He then reported the matter to the police,” Ledwaba explained.

The sheep and goats have orange tags on their ears and are worth R46 000.

Anyone with information is requested to contact the investigating officer, Captain Samuel Mohlala, on 082 414 6464, Crime Stop on 08600 10111, their nearest police station, or use the My SAPS App.
