Celebrating health and unity at Employee Wellness Games

Employees of the Sekhukhune District Municipality participated in the annual Municipal Employees Wellness Games at the Groblersdal Rugby Stadium.

Sekhukhune District Municipality’s employees participated in the second edition of the annual Municipal Employees Wellness Games at the Groblersdal Rugby Stadium on December 17.

The event attracted hundreds of employees, including councillors and officials, who participated in a variety of sporting activities that also included indigenous games such as Diketo and Chicago.

Lemson Moropjane, municipal spokesperson, said the occasion promotes health, unity and workplace wellness among employees.

“It further encourages physical activity, mental well-being, teamwork, and social cohesion within the municipal workforce,” Moropjane said.

He added that the initiative forms part of the municipality’s broader commitment to enhancing employee productivity and promoting a balanced work-life environment.

Mayor Minah Bahula emphasised the significance of investing in employee wellness as a foundation for effective service delivery.

She said, “The wellness of our employees is directly linked to the quality of services we provide to our communities. These games are not just about competition; they are about building unity, reducing stress, and reminding us that a healthy employee remains productive.”

A 10km marathon and fun walk also formed part of the initiative.
