Human remains discovered in field near Lukau

Human remains were found yesterday in a field between Lukau and Sterkfontein.

Members of the community who were busy ploughing fields between Lukau and Sterkfontein villages made a gruesome discovery yesterday (Tuesday).

Limpopo Provincial Police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba said members of the Hlogotlou SAPS cordoned off the area after they were alerted about a skeleton and commenced with investigations, together with relevant stakeholders.

A further examination conducted at the scene confirmed that the discovered remains were human.

“The identity of the deceased is currently unknown. An inquest docket has been opened to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The cause of death is unknown at this stage, and a postmortem examination will be conducted to establish the cause of death,” Mashaba stated.
