Sekhukhune SMMEs attend tourism Indaba
Tourism and hospitality SMMEs from Sekhukhune District are participating in the Africa Travel Indaba 2026 in Durban to showcase their products, build networks, and explore new business opportunities.
Twenty Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) from the Sekhukhune District are taking part in the Africa Travel Indaba currently underway at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
The tourism gathering, which opened on Monday and concludes tomorrow, provides businesses in the tourism and hospitality sector with an opportunity to showcase their products and services to local and international buyers, investors, and industry stakeholders.
The initiative is aimed at stimulating economic growth, encouraging innovation and creating sustainable employment opportunities within the sector.
Municipal spokesperson Lemson Moropjane said the participating enterprises are expected to gain market access, establish valuable business networks, and help position Sekhukhune District as a competitive tourism destination.
Moropjane added that the exposure gained at the Indaba would assist the businesses in applying new skills and insights within the district to strengthen the local economy and contribute towards job creation.
Sekhukhune District Municipality Executive Mayor Minah Bahula reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to supporting emerging entrepreneurs and promoting inclusive economic development.
“Our participation at the Africa Travel Indaba demonstrates our commitment to empowering local businesses and unlocking the economic potential of tourism within Sekhukhune District. We believe these SMMEs will return with meaningful opportunities that will contribute positively to the local economy,” said Bahula.
