Popular retailer in Blue Hills robbed twice in four days

A car guard claims today's robbers were driving the same cars as those of Sunday robbers, leading to suspicion that it was the same perpetrators.

A popular retailer in Blue Hills has been robbed by armed robbers again, just four days after the last time.

This happened on December 4 at around 16:00.

At the moment, it is unclear if the robbers managed to get away with any money or items.

On Sunday, November 30, the retailer was ambushed by about 8 armed men, who made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. They were driving a grey Toyota Quest and a grey VW Polo TSI.

A Midrand Reporter journalist visited the scene on Thursday this week, finding the retailer closed, while patrons were left confused. Upon arrival, a car guard, who asked not to be named, confirmed the incident.

“The cars they were driving looked similar to those that were here on Sunday. The same registration and the same car models. The occupants were armed and everything happened so quickly.”

Attempts by the paper to get official comment proved futile, with the store manager saying they were not allowed to speak to the media, and referring us to their senior manager.

Midrand SAPS and Sector 3 Crime Forum were contacted and said they had no knowledge of the event.

This is a developing story, and will be updated as soon as more information becomes available.
