Ladilsa’s head of IT, Agostinho Domingos, launches innovative online business 5-day workshops

The workshops will grant participants a Digital Practitioner certificate, collaboratively provided by the Institute of Chartered IT Professionals (ICITP) and the University of Johannesburg.

Resident Agostinho Domingos (46) has observed that South Africa’s unemployment rate has struggled for nearly two decades, leaving many in desperate search of income.

As the head of IT at Ladilsa, a company based in Halfway Gardens, Domingos does not believe in large conferences and webinars with massive audiences, which try to equip the unemployed with ways to make money.

Instead, he will launch five-day workshops where participants can learn to run functional online businesses tailored to their specific niches.

Starting in June, these workshops will host up to 20 participants each, allowing Domingos to monitor progress closely and offer personalised coaching and resources throughout each session.

Agostinho Domingos says tools that will be gained from the workshop could enhance career prospects and open up job opportunities.

As a certified IT professional and prestige member of the Institute of Chartered IT Professionals (ICITP) in South Africa, Domingos will ensure that all workshop attendees not only develop their online businesses but also receive a digital practitioner certificate in partnership with ICITP and the University of Johannesburg.

“All participants will gain access to a comprehensive suite of online business-building tools, including a brainstormer tool, domain registration, web hosting, a no-code site builder, form and autoresponder builders, a newsletter tool, and a universal AI assistant,” Domingos said.

He emphasised that these tools could enhance career prospects and open up job opportunities or promotions. “The provided suite will link participants’ websites to key social platforms and other niche-related sites, equipped with over 200 bots to manage daily operations, effectively functioning like a team of staff without the need for salaries or sick days.”

Domingos stresses the need for South Africa’s youth to pivot toward tertiary industries, particularly technology, as the economy shifts from its reliance on mining. “This workshop is beneficial because it integrates technology and artificial intelligence to enhance human productivity across various sectors, such as commerce, real estate, and finance.”

Due to limited availability, registration for the workshops will operate on a first-come, first-serve basis, with a waiting list for interested participants.
