Like the Landmark, the Metropolitan Edition will be a limited run model, but at the top of the Discovery line-up.

Exterior changes to the Metropolitan Edition are small but easy to spot.

Having introduced a streamlined line-up with the updated model recently, Land Rover has confirmed the availability of a new range-topping Discovery from the first half of next year.

Essentially a limited run model along the lines of the previous SE based Landmark, the Metropolitan Edition will be positioned above the now flagship HSE R-Dynamic, and mainly receives a series of exterior and interior additions.

Up front, the Metropolitan Edition will offered in D300 and P360 guises, meaning motivation from either the 221kW/650Nm mild-hybrid 3.0 Ingenium straight-six turbodiesel, or the similarly sized in-line six electrified petrol that pumps out 265kW/500Nm.

While pricing is set to be confirmed later, expect the Metropolitan Edition to be dearer than the equivalent HSE R-Dynamic, which retails from R1 689 562 for the D300 and from R1 726 770 for the P360.
