Gauteng youngster Jeffrey Kruger clinched this year’s Lotus Challenge championship in the last of the season’s 18 races, to take the category title for the second year in a row. We asked him some questions.

Q: What is your everyday occupation?

A: I work at the BMW plant in Rosslyn, designing low cost intelligent automation systems.

Q: What do you consider your biggest motorsport achievement thus far?

A: Winning the European Golf Cup championship in 2015 and the 2018 Falken Polo Cup title here at home.

Q: What are your racing plans for next year?

A: I will contest the Global Touring Car Supercup championship in a Universal Health Volkswagen Polo.

Q: What would be your dream racing achievement?

A: To end up as a professional driver in the Intercontinental GT3 Series, or the European Porsche Cup championship.

Q: What road car do you drive and why?

A: Renault Clio. I had a really nice Volkswagen Golf, but it was written off when somebody hit me from behind while standing at a red traffic light. I needed something cheap and easy to run, and the Renault was there.

Q: What is your dream road car?

A: The BMW M2 – I see how they get built, and it is super-fast, while also being practical.
