Ehlanzeni TVET student represents Mpumalanga at national language festival
A stellar presentation at the provincial stage in Ermelo has booked civil engineering scholar Amanda Mnisi a spot in the upcoming August finals.
Determination and a willingness to step outside her comfort zone have earned Amanda Mnisi (22), a civil engineering student, the opportunity to represent Mpumalanga at the national Academic Eisteddfod Language Festival.
Mnisi, who is currently studying for her Level 4 civil engineering qualification, entered the competition with one goal in mind – to challenge herself, improve her communication skills and overcome her shyness.

She chose to compete in the book review category, where she presented a review of “You Become What You Think” by Shubham Kumar Singh. Her hard work paid off on July 11, when she competed at the Ehlanzeni TVET College’s Nelspruit Campus and secured first place, earning her a spot in the provincial competition.
National finals await
On July 18, Mnisi represented her college at the provincial stage held at Gert Sibande TVET College in Ermelo, where her impressive performance earned her recognition and qualified her to represent Mpumalanga at the national finals, which will take place in the Free State from August 7 to 10.

“It has been an exciting and sometimes stressful journey, but I’ve enjoyed every part of it and I’m ready to give my best and make Mpumalanga proud,” she said.
