United aim for the stars

Aces have dropped down to position 12 on the log table and a win on Sunday will temporarily take them to position 10.

The only home team campaigning in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), Mpumalanga Black Aces will host two tough league games at the KaNyamazane and Mbombela stadiums.

The quest for a better finish in the PSL began last night when the home team travelled to Pretoria for a date against Supersport United and will this Sunday entertain the struggling but dangerous KwaZulu-Natal-based Maritzburg United, at the KaNyamazane Stadium. Kick-off for this clash is at 15:30.

Straight from this fixture, Aces will take on another KZN-based team, Amazulu FC on Wednesday at 19:30 at Mbombela Stadium.

Aces hope for a thunderous return and would certainly want to continue the year with a winning attitude, especially when playing at home.

“Yes, we certainly need to collect all three points. These will help us finish the season in a pretty good position among the top eight.

“We are going to fight for all three points in both home games. We are ready and prepared for war, we just ask our fans to cheer us on in order to give the boys that extra 12th player,” said Aces spokesperson, Gordon Masondo. Since gaining promotion to the PSL at the beginning of the season, Amazayoni have silenced critics who suggested the home team would struggle in this competitive league.

“When we gained promotion, we said we wanted to put Aces at the top where we belong and we are slowly building the team. I can assure all our supporters that we will get there. I just want to appeal to them to give us time to build this team and turn it into the powerhouse it used to be,” said Masondo.

Aces have dropped down to position 12 on the log table and a win on Sunday will temporarily take them to position 10.

Speaking on behalf of the Mbombela Stadium, Mthuthuzeli said they were ready for the game on Wednesday and asked soccer supporters to buy tickets on time and arrive early on the day of the game.

He said there were going to be some activation programmes on Sunday just before the game at the KaNyamazane Stadium when they would be giving away tickets and Aces replica jerseys.
