Mighty United ready for Highlands
Following their 3-0 victory over Royal Eagles on Saturday, at the KaNyamazane Stadium, National First Division outfits, Mbombela United have moved up the ranks to occupy the fifth spot.
Of their five outings United have managed to collect seven points and are only six points behind log leaders Baroka FC.
Two more wins would see the home team climbing all the way to the top. They have an opportunity to improve their log standing when they take on Highlands Park on Sunday at the same stadium.
Currently in sixth position, Highlands Park are no pushovers though and could prove a handful when they meet on Sunday.
They also come from a 3-0 win over African Warriors and will look to continue their impressive run.
Tingwenyama’s head coach, Vusi Mkhatshwa said he was happy with the way his team have bounced back so far after their home defeat at the hands of Witbank Spurs.
After that defeat, Mkhatshwa’s troops registered two straight wins over Moroka Swallows and Royal Eagles, respectively.
“I have had serious talk with my players trying to motivate them and they responded very well. They are now even more fuelled to do better.
They are more motivated than ever before and I want to believe that they will do better against Highlands Park,” said Mkhatshwa.
He said he told his players to show no mercy and respect their opponents, especially at home. “It is vital for us to collect all three points whenever we play at home and that is what the players are fighting to achieve.
Teams should understand that they cannot just come here and take away points that easily.
People who want to take away points must actually sweat for them,” Mkhatshwa continued.
United’s spokesperson, Sostern Gutsa said they would use their home advantage and the support from their loyal supporters to overcome Highlands Park.
He said their supporters and the support from local people had been overwhelming and he urged them to continue supporting the team through and through.
Kick-off is at 15:00.
