Sivutsa in PSL

Emalahleni based Witbank Spurs, who are currently on position of the NFD table is the other team also eyeing a spot in the PSL after missing out on a chance to go to the play offs last season by an inch.

The National First Division side (NFD), Sivutsa Stars are adamant about a place in the country’s elite soccer league, the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

Stars who are currently occupying the seventh spot on the NFD table, has been playing quality and entertaining football, totally different from what they offered the past season where they dropped points at home and ended up languishing in the 13th position.

“Since the new season started, the boys have shown maturity and confidence. I want to believe that the introduction of John Tlale as the team’s new head coach played a huge difference in the camp. And the kind of players we have acquired for this season seem hungrier for success, which is a good for the team and our chances to qualify for the PSL. I have no doubts in my mind that the province will soon have another representative in the PSL,” commented the team’s PRO, Charles Nkosi.

There are two provincial teams currently campaigning in the NFD and both stand a good chance of gaining promotion to the elite league.

Emalahleni based Witbank Spurs, who are currently on position of the NFD table is the other team also eyeing a spot in the PSL after missing out on a chance to go to the play offs last season by an inch.

Even though the NFD have been marred by negative reports about the poor standard of refereeing, but Nkosi maintained that even so, the team have to go past that and continue playing good football and score goals.

“We need to concentrate on scoring more goals and concede little, because there is no sane referee that will disallow a beautiful goal.

Our focus is to continue play as one team and start collecting as much points as we can in the early stages of the campaign,” further said Nkosi.

Sivutsa have so far registered one victory at home against Witbank Spurs, lost only once and collected two points after drawing twice, against Baroka FC and Vasco Da Gama.
