Galaxy, on the other hand, gained automatic entry due to their DStv Premiership status. These two giants have in past had meetings created fireworks, and it will be interesting to see who will walk away with bragging rights. “It is a pity that we are still not allowed to attend soccer games, as this would have been the final before the actual final of the tournament.
“I am certain that the Mbombela or KaBokweni stadiums would have been packed to capacity if it weren’t for Covid-19. These two teams are like Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, or Nkomazi-based Sivutsa Stars and Mbombela United. Those who follow local football will attest that whenever these teams play each other, they don’t only attract the masses, but also play good and entertaining football,” said Mpumalanga’s number one soccer fanatic, Manyovu Mnisi.

The two teams first met in 2019 during the National First Division clash on December 21, which ended on a goalless stalemate. In the return match on March 1 last year just before the country was hit by Covid-19, TS Galaxy had the last laugh, registering a 1-0 victory. This fixture, already dubbed the hottest in the last 32, will be interesting to watch, especially with both teams currently blowing hot and cold.
