South Africa has seen a massive increase in Covid-19 cases in the past 24-hours with an additional 4 966 cases being reported.
The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in South Africa now stands at 92 681.
The case data per province is as follows:
Eastern Cape:
- 14 721 confirmed cases
- 15.9% of the country total
- 268 deaths
- 7 470 recoveries
Free State:
- 700 confirmed cases
- 0.8% of the country total
- 9 deaths
- 236 recoveries
Gauteng:
- 18 978 confirmed cases
- 20.5% of the country total
- 114 deaths
- 4 273 recoveries
KwaZulu-Natal:
- 4 806 confirmed cases
- 5.2% of the country total
- 83 deaths
- 2 527 recoveries
Limpopo:
- 521 confirmed cases
- 0.6% of the country total
- 4 deaths
- 236 recoveries
Mpumalanga:
- 544 confirmed cases
- 0.6% of the country total
- 1 death
- 156 recoveries
North West:
- 1 956 confirmed cases
- 2.1% of the country total
- 5 death
- 175 recoveries
Northern Cape:
- 232 confirmed cases
- 0.3% of the country total
- 1 death
- 97 recoveries
Western Cape:
- 50 173 confirmed cases
- 54.1% of the country total
- 1 392 deaths
- 35 156 recoveries
Unallocated cases:
- 49 confirmed cases
- 0.1% of the country total
A total number of 1 293 608 Covid-19 tests have been processed of which 33 174 tests have been conducted since the last report.
The Department of Health reports 46 more Covid-19 related deaths:
- 11 in Eastern Cape
- 3 in KwaZulu-Natal
- 32 in Western Cape
This brings the total number of Covid-19 rated deaths in South Africa to 1 877. The current mortality rate is at 2.0%.
