Man shot, killed in another north smallholdings armed robbery

The Pretoria North sector 3 CPF decided to implement several suggestions, including increased patrols, within “a few hours” of an emergency meeting held to discuss a spate of violent crimes in the Haakdoornboom area.

This comes after the 15km radius area was hit by seven attacks on smallholdings within a mere 24 hour period earlier this week from Tuesday to Wednesday.

Marcos Grassini of the Pretoria North sector 3 CPF said crime in the area has been on the rise over the past few years.

“Over the last two years, we had a massive increase in violent crimes such as assault, rape, murder, hijacking, spiking of vehicle tyres, disturbance of the peace, child prostitution, neglect and abuse.”

Police in the north of Pretoria are searching for three men following a house robbery and murder.

The incident happened at around midnight on Saturday, on a plot in the Buffelsdrift area north of Pretoria, according to police spokesperson Sergeant Sindane.

“Initial reports indicated that two men were inside the house belonging to one of the men,” Sindane said.

“Three armed men gained entry into the house through the bathroom window, surprising the homeowner and his friend.”

Sindane said the armed men proceeded to bind the homeowner and his friend.

“The friend tried to resist and was fatally shot by the men. He died as a result.

“The men then fled the scene in a VW Amarok bakkie belonging to the victims.”

Sindane said the bakkie together with items stolen by the men were later recovered by police.

“The suspects managed to flee on foot and are still at large.”

Police are investigating a case of armed robbery and murder.

A 73-year-old man was a also recent victim in smallholding attacks in the north of Pretoria on Thursday. This after residents had a meeting to address attacks which happened in the area where, in a house robbery, an 18-year-old boy was shot in the neck and two people suffered severe head injuries.
