Gauteng Covid-19 cases climb to 22 341

The department said out of 23 018 contacts traced (individuals who were in contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19), 15 340 people have completed the 14 days monitoring period with no symptoms reported and were de-isolated.

The department said 952 people were currently hospitalised in public and private facilities.

Breakdown per district of cases and recoveries:

• Johannesburg: 11 079 cases and 3 087 recoveries
• Ekurhuleni: 4 499 cases and 1 202  recoveries
• Tshwane: 3 399 cases and 736  recoveries
• Sedibeng: 736  cases and 110 recoveries
• West Rand: 1 549  cases and 485 recoveries
