Pretoria Moot girl (15) re-united with her family – eight weeks after she went missing

“We found her in Hercules at a house but I don't know with who she was I was just so happy to see het that I didn't even ask her about anything.”

An Eesrterust mother who had hoped to spend Christmas with her 15 year- old-girl who went missing in October is elated as she was finally reunited with her daughter before the start of the new year.

This follows the family interviewing all her friends, who had little to no information over her disappearance, which spanned for approximately 8 weeks.

A man who sells vegetables in Eersterust had informed the family that he saw her on the back of a truck, alleging that the truck was on its way to Mamelodi, but it [clue] was a dead end.”

The mother was worried sick about her daughter’s whereabouts after not knowing whether the minor was abducted or got involved with the wrong friends and was scared to come home.

The girl who went missing on October 28, 2021, however contacted her family to be brought home on Wednesday night.

The mother of the Eersterust girl, Lee-Anne Jacobs said “Last night around 20:00 I was putting my son to bed when my phone rang. I picked up and all I could here was mum please come get me and then I asked her where she was she said in Hercules and she gave me the street name.

Lee-Anne said she messaged the investigating officer to assist her pick her daughter Taahirah Jacobs.

“We found her in Hercules at a house but I don’t know with who she was I was just so happy to see het that I didn’t even ask her about anything.”

She said she was accompanied by her father and his wife.

“I appreciate them standing by me we are so happy.”

She said she was still uncertain of what led to her disappearance.

“We have not talked about it yet.”

Taahirah was only reported missing by her family on November 22 as they thought that she would return home.

Lee-Anne said that they had searched for her, but as time went by, they decided to file a missing report at the police.

Devastated Lee-Anne said she was going mad and “cannot think straight anymore”, as all she wanted was to find her daughter, safe and unharmed.

“Taahirah is my only daughter. We have searched for her in Eersterust, East-Lynne and Silverton, but with no luck.”

Her mother said that the community and the police assisted them during this devastating time.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Sam Shibambo said The South African Police Service in Eersterust received information from reliable sources that Tahira Jacobs was in the Hercules area in the west of Pretoria.

“The police immediately mobilised their resources and went in search for her. After hours of searching they finally trace her and managed to bring her home.”

Shibambo said the family was happy to see the missing minor and “they couldn’t hide the joy of being reunited with their daughter”.

He said the community was advised to report missing persons immediately, as they often delayed and made it difficult for police to locate a missing person.
