A 25-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing a 17-year-old girl in Bushbuckridge on Friday.

Herold Mokoena appeared in Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court on Monday on a murder charge.

According to provincial police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli, police received information about a badly assaulted victim who was taken to hospital by her family members and a male friend.

On arrival at the hospital, police were led to a bed where a teenage girl was dead.

The victim sustained multiple injuries.

The police investigation led to the girl’s male friend and he was arrested.

Mokoena is expected to again appear in court on September 12 for a formal bail application.
