A 25-year-old male was arrested for allegedly killing a 17-year-old girl in Bushbuckridge on Friday, August 29. Herold Mokoena appeared in Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court on Monday, September 2 on a murder charge.

According to a provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, police received information about a badly assaulted victim who was brought to hospital by her family members, together with her male friend. On arrival at the hospital, police were led to a bed with the lifeless body of a teenage girl.

The victim sustained multiple injuries. The police investigation led to her male friend and he was arrested. Mokoena is expected to reappear at the same court on September 12 for a formal bail application.
