Shots fired near farm in KZN as man killed along R103

Gunfire in an area left one man dead, prompting a police investigation.

A man was shot and killed yesterday (June 24), near the Peacetown turn-off on the R103 between Harrismith and Ladysmith in KZN, in an incident that unfolded close to a local farm, reports Northern Natal News.

A farmer in the area, who asked not to be named, said he heard two gunshots and rushed to investigate. He reported seeing a vehicle speeding away from the scene with the injured man, who was being transported to hospital.

The victim was later declared dead on arrival. His identity has not yet been confirmed.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan confirmed the incident, saying Ladysmith SAPS have opened an inquest docket and investigations are ongoing.
