Polokwane car chase leads to R50 000 drug bust
An intelligence-led police operation ended in a residential yard after officers chased down a suspected drug supplier targeting Limpopo towns.
A 37-year-old foreign national is expected to appear in court after he was arrested for dealing in drugs during an intelligence-driven operation executed in Polokwane, reports Polokwane Review.
On Monday (September, 14), members of the Provincial Organised Crime Unit and Tzaneen Detectives, operationalised information about a Nigerian male suspect who was allegedly supplying drugs around the Mankweng and Tzaneen precincts.
Police spotted vehicle on Voortrekker Street
The information further indicated that the drug dealer normally meets with his customers at Voortrekker Street in Polokwane.
The teams acted on the information and positively identified the vehicle. When police attempted to stop it, the suspect fled the scene, and a car chase ensued until he was apprehended in the yard of a house on Plein Street.
Drugs found in vehicle
Police searched the suspect and his car and discovered:
- 345.4 grams of crystal meth
- 211.5 grams of heroin
The drugs have an estimated street value of R50 000.
The 37-year-old suspect was immediately placed under arrest for dealing in and possession of drugs and has appeared before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court.
