UPDATE: Baby unharmed after three doctors were shot during an robbery at Letaba Hospital, Limpopo
A two-month old baby was left unharmed after the child’s parents were attacked by armed men during a house robbery at the Letaba Hospital Residence D2 Section in the early hours of this morning.
Three doctors were shot and seriously injured during a house robbery at Letaba Hospital doctors’ residence in the early hours of Thursday morning, Letaba Herald reports.
Three doctors were harmed as a result of the incident, two of whom are in the Intensive Care Unit, in a stable condition and one doctor is stable in the casualty.

The doctors are identified as DR LS Kunene, Dr LF Chauke and DR KH Mkharhi.

It is believed that the assailants gained entrance through the back fence of the residential area where they forced their way through.

The Greater Tzaneen Municipality Mayor, Maripe Mangena and his councillors also visited the hospital to show support.
Initially it was reported that two females and a male doctor were shot in what police suspected was a robbery in the early hours of this morning at the hospital.
“Though circumstances are still sketchy, five heavily armed men gained access to the residence and robbed occupants of their belongings and shot three in the process,” Niel Shikwambana, spokesperson of the Department of Health said.
DR Phophi Ramathuba, MEC for Health is currently at the Letaba Hospital, ‘One of the female doctors is in a very critical condition and currently in surgery,’ she said
