A 21-year-old suspect has been arrested for possession of drugs in Mazakhele, Harding, in KwaZulu-Natal.

It is alleged police received information of drugs that were being sold at the suspect’s house. The suspect was arrest and charged for possession of drugs.

Police found 22 mandrax tablets and 720 straws of heroin hidden in a speaker. The suspect was due to appear in the Harding Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The KwaZulu-Natal provincial commissioner, Lieutenant-General Mmamonnye Ngobeni, applauded the Kokstad K9 Unit for the arrest of the suspects and seizure of drugs.

“These drugs are destroying our citizens, especially the youth. Our police members will work tirelessly to eradicate the scourge of drug use within our communities,” added Ngobeni.

In a separate incident, three men were arrested near Mobeni Heights Cemetery in KwaZulu-Natal for drug possession last Thursday.
