VIDEO: Victim confronts ‘skelm’ handbag snatcher with a klap
Video footage shows a 22-year-old man being carried by a group of men after he allegedly snatched a bag from a woman on the corner of Amsterdam and OR Tambo streets in Witbank, Mpumalanga earlier today.
The victim, Busi Nxumalo, was on her way to work when her handbag was snatched from her. The suspect was arrested shortly afterwards by a businessman from Magic Pluming and his team,Witbank News reported.
In the video, the suspect is seen being carried by four men. He was put at the back of a bakkie as three women beat him, one using a broomstick.
The businessman who was at the robot at the time heard a woman screaming, and when he noticed the suspect running down Lana Street with a handbag, he immediately gave chase, and his team followed.

The suspect was apprehended in an open field on Gerda Street with the handbag in his possession.
“He did not steal anything from my handbag,” said Nxumalo.
Police were called to the scene, and the suspect was taken to Witbank Police Station.
In a separate incident, an alleged smash-and-grab robber was arrested after two police officers chased after him as he ran away with a woman’s handbag along Barry Hertzog Avenue, Milpark in Johannesburg.
Sergeant Peter Mpofu from Parkview Police Station said the victim, Chiron Loubser, was waiting for the traffic light to change when a man smashed her car window and grabbed her bag last Tuesday.
Loubser said: “I have no idea what happened; it happened so fast.”
Witness to the incident, Jenny Scott, said: “I was in the left lane, and the victim was in the right. [The suspect] walked past the [the victim’s] passenger window then smashed it.”
