‘Hitler lover’ supports ‘whites must f*** off’ remark
Former Wits SRC leader Mcebo Dlamini said he fully supports the racist remarks recently made by an ANC ward councillor in Mpumalanga.
Kenny Barrel Nkosi, who is also a ward councillor at Govan Mbeki Municipality, in the wake of the official visit by the Cuban 5, posted on Facebook that “whites should f*** off”.
“The first people that need to f***of are whites. Cubans never oppressed us,” Nkosi’s post read.
“I see no problem with what that councillor said. In fact, I love him for saying those things. He was expressing the views of the black majority of South Africa,” Dlamini told The Citizen.
The controversial Dlamini added Nkosi’s remark needed to be understood within context. He pointed out that there had been utterances by people who were opposed to last month’s visit by the Cuban 5, adding that Cuba helped the liberation struggle during Apartheid.
“If white people say, ‘the Cuban 5 must f*** off’, then [whites] should f*** off,” he added.
He added Nkosi’s comments were only getting attention because he was black.
“When white people tell us to go back to the zoo and to go back to our mud houses, nothing happens. They speak as they please. Look at Steve Hofmeyr for example.”
“The ANC should not even think of punishing [Nkosi]. They shouldn’t even dare, [or] they will meet the anger of the black youth in this country,” he said.
Meanwhile, the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) condemned Nkosi’s statement and urged South Africans to realise the nation was a diverse and multiracial one.
“We need to recognise the history where we come from as a nation,” SAHRC spokesperson Isaac Mangena said.
Mangena added the commission has always warned people, including public figures, to refrain from using language that could be deemed harmful to other racial and religious groups.
“We encourage people to approach the commission whenever there is a suspected violation of another person’s rights,” Mangena added.
